Oh, I just saw that "Nutella" is one of the names you can legally give to your baby in the Phillipines :D In Poland there were the parents who wanted to give this name to their daughter but the officials didn't agree because it's a name that could cast their owner into ridicule - such names are forbidden here. The same was with the name Joint - understood here as a marijuana cigarette and not a structure in the human or animal body at which two parts of the skeleton are fitted together. And the same was with the name Pipa - because Pipa is one of the slang names for a vagina. And with the name Koka (Coca) which is just short for coccaine. Those are the names from the list of the most eccentric names the officials didn't agree to the parents to give.

I also saw once the list of names a group of Polish young parents were asked about what names they would want to give to their newborns if there was complete freedom concerning the names. I remember there were such names among them as: Giraffe, Mouse, Head and Antenna.

There is such a name as Sonia in Poland - rare (and not completely Polish, it's a name of Russian origin actually) but still given - but like 70% females of this name are female dogs :D It's a typical dog's name, yet still given to baby girls (even if rarely).

The strangest thing is that I never personally (and online) met anyone the same first name as I am, despite that it's relatively common... :?

I can't remember anyone in school having the same name as me but it's not a rare name but I've met a few people with the same name as me during my adult life but not too many

My daughter's name was quite a popular name back when she was born. I think there was 3 of them all in the same class

I like Kayleigh and I think I've only ever met one Kayleigh in my life but I wouldn't say that's a rare name either

Maybe I'm just mixing in the wrong circles

I still remember the time I was minding my own business at the school library when a guy cornered me and demanded to know why I'd broken some guy's heart. Which was news to me. He started going about how the guy didn't deserve it and I was wondering what was going on when this other guy showed up and told him that he wanted another girl with the same name, not me.

Anyway, I ended up meeting her before a dance show and let me tell you she could not have been any more different than me. The only thing we shared was a name. She was cool though, very punk rock. I mentioned the library incident and we both laughed about it. She apologised for their behaviour. I didn't ask why she dumped the guy they were on about. Figured it wasn't really my business.
