All children injured in the knife attacks in Southport are out of hospital.

Three girls were killed when a knifeman entered a Taylor Swift-themed holiday club on 29 July and began stabbing those inside.

Not all Reform voters are quite Nazis, but what do you want to bet the violent thugs responsible for the riots are Reform voters (supposing they voted)?

This is never going to happen. Tensions will only get worse and eventually boil over. I think most reasonable people don't have a problem with legal immigration assuming they assimilate (assimilation needs a lot more work, even with the legal immigrants). The main problem is illegal, undocumented immigration via boats from "displaced" populations that only ever seem to displace young men for some mystery unknown to me.

I think a lot of the support for illegal boat migrants is part identity politics, part oversimplified thinking and part sexual.

Looking at pics taken inside genuine refugee camps and past conflicts with people fleeing war, the demographic makeup of them are homogonous with a typical population. Women, kids, old people, men. The people coming via boat are not remotely like the typical makeup of actual refugees.

I do believe the trump MAGAs use a similar reverse psychology. Civil rights movements in the US came up with the term "woke". then MAGAs made woke a kind of slur to label everything progressive in the culture.

the dilemma is human rights require countries in "Fortress Europe" to be humanitarian. You can't let leaky boats in the Mediterranean sea sink drowning people, invariably young men coming as economic migrants do disperse themselves among the legit refugees fleeing war. But since almost all of them come undocumented how are you supposed to process them?

Borders are relic anyway, from a bygone era of kings and kingdoms. Of tribes and tribalism. In a globalised borderless world (the future) people are going to live in economic zones based on their wealth, rather than current situations where country = race

They'll have to get more ruthless with how they deal with immigration. It's been completely unsustainable and organised for many years now. The construction of large camps or on the very extreme end, brutal sanctions against countries with large emigration or even finding a way to blockade them.

It seems like one of those things that's best stopped at the source seeing nothing else is working.

Sanctions, coming to agreements with bordering nations to heavily restrict movement from those nations, naval patrols within the waters of problematic nations, "totting up" the number of failed asylum seekers from that nation and billing incurred costs back in some form or another.

Last nights riots failed to materialise, thanks to several thousand police AND several thousand anti-racism protestors. 140 rioters have been sentenced by fast-track courts and their faces shown in the news. According to the Metro, the riots were planned on X and Telegram with the aid of troll farms owned by the Russian government. Which makes the organisers literal traitors, in my book.

It's a shame they can't be deported straight to Russia.
