I remember on yahoo answers I posted a question saying that I was in "no hurry to settle down because I have my 30s, 40, and 50s etc to hook up with women". One poster replied to me saying "If you think you will be getting women when you get over 30 you can forget about it unless you are very rich"

At the time i just turneds 21 when I posted that. In a way do you think he made an excellent point in response to me?

Maybe he was talking from his own experience but it's a pretty cynical way of seeing things

I don't think his advice was very good to be honest

Maybe he's right though. It's been a good 10 years since a woman has said she fancies me

I asked her what she thought about my looks a few weeks ago and she said "Yeah your fine you are not bad looking".

That's hardly saying she fancies me is it? In fact she rarely compliments me on my looks

Well maybe looks aren't the main important thing to her

Don't depress me.
But I guess there are countries where I'd be considered rich.
Better renew my passports.

If you gave her the impression that your priority was finding a woman young enough to have (and want to have) your children, she might have been letting you down easy by saying something general but not negative about your looks.

While I understand this situation, I do not see it as a problem.

Ah, Yahoo Answers, what a truly atrocious corner of the Internet that used to be. Amusing, but wasn't very good for actual advice.

Jamesy, you're unlikely to get a 'yes' to your question. I suspect this thread will be several solid 'no, he didn't make an excellent point' responses.

I think the only way you'd get at least a semi accurate answer to your question is if you were to create a survey aimed at women with a decent sample size and polled them on this. Then you'd have an average at least.

However, what would that really accomplish? Not a lot. It only takes one yes in a crowd full of rejections. Fortune favours the bold, but a lack of wisdom makes the bold become fools. The tricky part is to know when to be bold and when to be wise. That's something you can only really learn from experience.

Whether he had a point or not, that's not really relevant. What I want to know is what you plan to do next. Comparison is the thief of joy. You could spend a lot of time comparing yourself to others, but ultimately you are living your life not theirs. I suspect it is your own self-doubt holding you back, not your money.

I was in my mid-40s before I found the girl for me.

You sort of need a gal where you and she are mutually compatible (that includes similar ages!) and both unattached.

The pool of single gals around your age that you are mutually compatible with shrinks over time. Many of them will have already paired off. (However, that trend might change when you pass 70.)

I was very, very lucky to find my bride in our mid-40s!

That stereotype is old-fashioned and dumb.

It's just not true at all. Just look at the facts: are most older men who are not rich single? They are not! The majority of people are not rich, and the majority have partners. And if there were a large number of single straight men, there would have to be an equal number of single straight women.

You just need to look at basic facts to see that that assumption is not correct.

That completely contradicts what Anita told me about most people being single (not having partners)! !!

I think she only said that just to try to make me feel better
