Interesting video highly recommended watching showing the misrepresentation of ASD in social media.

It is not my business to spergsplain to those with ASD level >1 how they can speak for themselves. But it is my responsibility to call out ableism wherever I see it.

A couple of positive examples of self-advocacy:

The link is just another dull article politicising something that doesn't involve politics, "if you support this your MAGA trump, far right, evil person blah blah blah" many of these articles came out years ago after 2016 & many in the US & worldwide, even on the left, find it all very tiresome these days, particularly that most people find the dem / rep to be more like a uni party, than a real opposition the US probably needs. It was written two years ago so that probably explains it.
Profound autism or all autism doesn't really care what side of the political spectrum people are.
NCSA was setup to give a voice to those who didn't have a voice, who were being drowned out by those with less support needs. ASD 3 is a non entity that means nothing to those outside the autism world.
There`s multiple autisms, no doubt you and i are not the same as those with profound autism, in a perfect world these conditions would all have different names so everyone`s needs are properly met.
In an ideal world Ellon Musk`s autism could be called Muskism and everyone would know that person would likely be intelligent and highly able with a few social difficulties.
But alas science isn't there yet its all called autism, so what are the carers of those with profound autism to do when they see advocates trivializing the condition, undermining & ignoring their needs , even going as far as falsely claiming they don't have autism despite their diagnosis, or not one of them & pumping out false misinformation on social media.
Nature hates a vacuum and all autism advocacy & failure of science and psychiatry has done is create a vaccum for the NCSA to fill

Autistic people are one community.
I will also call out each and every attempt to divide our community, whether by quack medics, fad scientists, cultists, grifters, grievance-based parenting organisations like the one that made this video, or anyone else - and by those who advocate for them, whether deliberately or otherwise.
I think this conversation needs to end here, because I don't want it to get personal, and as an autistic person I can find it hard to prevent that from happening. All I can ask you to do, and I'm trying to do this politely, is to research your links before you post them, if only for the sake of newcomers to the board, and of course I'm not in charge here, so you have that choice. Thank you for listening.

In reply to your comment about researching links for the record I don’t expect you to reply of course
NCSA is a valid autism advocacy organisation you may not like what they do but they are just as valid as ASAN

I don’t need to divide the community it’s already divided as the two links already prove.
That’s why this section of wrong planet is here to talk about this kind of thing in the media

A dumb article that highlights the problems we face with so called online experts and misinformation.
Before anyone says but I don’t see myself as disabled….
Referring to himself or others like him is ok, but making such sweeping general claims about everyone with autism is just wilful ignorance.
It’s reassuring reading the comments at the bottom from other autistic people at this persons ignorant claims.
