I find trying to make friends drives me crazy. I've been in this virtual autistic peer group before and I have no idea what to say, I can't remember people's names, and I drooped out of the group more than a year ago.
A lot depends on how such a group is run. Ideally, the leader/facilitator should make an effort to help newcomers feel welcome and comfortable, and to structure the group so that everyone has a chance to speak.
Perhaps you might try to find a better group?
Also, have you looked for any
local autistic peer support groups, e.g. via Meetup?
