Why does society have a problem with people who can't enter employment without support?

Because society doesn't get why it takes two people to do one person's work, I would guess.

I think Jamesy means support getting into work in the first place, as opposed to two people working the same job instead of one.

Employers assume that a person needing support to find employment would have issues in the workplace like problems performing some of their tasks or problems getting along with others.

In terms of ASD, a lot of that has to do with how the whole process is handled from the way the jobs are advertised to the way that the interviews and hiring decisions are made might as well be designed to keep autistic people out. Then you factor in the conditions of working and the issues related to burn out. And this is assuming that the support needs are relatively low, it can be even harder if there are more supports needed, especially given how invisible many of the challenges are.
