Knowing that God doesn't exist is a religious belief. Personally I think the probability of God existing today is low so I characterise myself as an atheist.

As Ragtime asked about how do you know God doesn't exist, I wanted to ask "How do you know the God of the Bible DOES exist". Now of course some of the answers would have been based on religious dogma, like citing the Bible with their own interpretations of it, seems that wouldn't do much of a difference, although a poll would indicate that a lot of people wouldn't know for sure just as the same as the other poll, I suppose.

Ragtime invented god because god was the only one that wouldn't leave him, and who would respect him in the morning; unlike all his other relationships which went pear-shaped.

A translation of that reply would be one reason Ragtime maintains a strong relationship with God is because like alot people especially aspies it might in fact be a better longer lasting relationship.

Yeah, a lot of so-called religious people would strengthen their beliefs in something, even if it is a made-up concept, to help them get through hard times. Frightening thing is, when it becomes obsessive, that's when you really have to wonder if their is anything deeper.
