Why is it men want to fool around with you so fast without knowing you? One guy I met yesterday.

I put myself into a sphere where most people are just there to hook-up and people assume I'm there to hook-up. I just don't get it.

I'm not seeking to mock her, just point out the lack of logic, especially when it's not like this is the first time it's happened.

You go to a hook-up site, people assume you're there to hook-up.

Likewise, if you go to a website focused on finding long-term relationships offline, people assume you will want to meet in person.

When you join a dating website it's good to get an idea of what exactly the userbase tends to use the website for instead of just complaining that your goals aren't aligned with those held by most of the userbase.

Am I so out of touch? No, it's all the other users who are wrong.

Isn't there some sort of option/drop down menu to choose for the purposes of stating what you are looking for in regards to dating, on dating websites?

There used to be on OkCupid, when I signed up briefly, many moons ago.

Some users do not pay attention to that nor care what others state their wanting in their profiles.

It sounds like the user base don't agree with your assessment of the site, given the problem you're describing. If a large portion of the users use it as a hook-up site, it's a hook-up site in practice even if it doesn't explicitly brand itself as one.

That's just how men are. Generally speaking, men want sex first then relationship whereas women usually want relationship first then sex. It's the old battle of the sexes and it's been going on for thousands of years.

I've posted this story before but in the early 1990s I joined a dating match company (pre-internet) called "Friends First". the Match-making company was run by women and advertised they had hundreds of women looking for men who want to be friends first (hence the name) and form a long lasting relationship.

After I paid more than a thousand dollars they gave me a new person to date every month (true story), After 12 months I realised it was a scam and the women were being paid by the dating company to go on dates (and get free dinners). the last woman I dated came back to my place and pretended she loved the way I decorated (which I thought was a bit weird because I knew had no sense of style) and took a few photos. I was flattered. About 2 weeks later I was robbed and the cops said it was her and her accomplices.

Anyway Friends first gives me Ptsd
