I Feel Like It is Getting Harder to Work as Time Goes On.
Hi,
I feel like as I get older, many tasks that came easy before are getting harder. I have been looking for work since 2022, and while I have gotten some interviews, it led nowhere. I have also noticed stress has gotten to me more lately. I think part of it is before is that the economy sucks and the upward career trajectory I thought I was on has stalled. But beyond that I feel like there are more roadblocks and many Gen Y and Gen Z seem to be entering HR and I feel a sense of judgement sometimes that I have not in the past with Gen X or before. It seems like there is a greater emphasis on emotional intelligence, and not just basic stuff, but it feels like it is a moving target. I think moving forward, I will look for remote centric jobs and work on transitioning my life to some place cheaper. Even if I can't make bank, I could at least save with a low cost of living overseas and maybe buy a place in a place I do like and can rent it out with the goal of ultimately leaving American work culture behind. I just feel like I am stuck in pre-2020 work culture, but the culture has become a lot more savage. Part of that is the economy, but part of it feels systemic, and I worry I might get left behind.
I worry a bit, as in the past I wanted to get into programming, but I worry about NTs taking over a once safe haven for NDs.
