So you are asking about the political aspects of the socially liberal/conservative question?
Marijuana, GLBT, the Media, these are also political issues.

I'm socially liberal, (but fiscally conservative.)

Those issues *can* be political, but not always. Social issues frequently step outside political and religious bounds.

Maybe I meant to ask "Without regard to politics or religion, what is everyone's views on these topics?"

If this thread is better suited for the Politics/Philosophy/Religion, you can move it there if you want.

I don't really think it's even remotely possible to discuss being 'socially' liberal or conservative without stepping into the realm of government and politics - they're so intricately linked that you can't talk about one thing without delving into the other, intentionally or not, if you get what I mean.

But me, I'm by and large a very liberal person - though I've no idea where I may be in ten, twenty, thirty years - and am pro-gay, pro-choice, against censorship, keen on doing something to at least hold back climate change for a little while. I would mention more, but as I mentioned above, I can't without getting political. It's really not possible, or at least I hold that view.

That said, I'm a liberal, barring the odd conservative stance here and there, but a sense of balance is always a good thing.

Mr Mark anarchism is a way of life, it is a way of being and is deeply social. Politics bores me. Re definitions,.......emmmm, id rather have the experience of freedom than to have a neat definition of it.
Go well Mark

I guess I'm just not clear about what you mean by "facist."

I take the side of human rights and personal liberty no matter what the issue. I guess that makes me one of those "liberals".

Okay, what's the difference between a "facist" and a "pinko?"

They're only synonymous if you have a pink face.

In case anyone was curious, in terms of politics, I have lately been veering toward Libertarianism.

Tim

Tim, you're so darned cute I'd agree with you anyway...

Okay so here I go:
Media: People have a choice whether or not to view certain programming.

GLBT: I don't have a problem with same-sex marriage, and I feel that job benefits should be allowed without regard to relationship status.

Marijuana: If it has been thoroughly proven to reap positive medical benefits, then it should be legalized.

Abortion: Pro-choice

Totally agree.

I'll add:
US Immigration: Why not let anybody in who wants to live in this crappy country?

Jails: Let them all rot in hell. When it comes to crime, I'm on the conservative side.

I guess I'm pretty liberal. But I can be old-fashioned with my small desires. Like being married before I have a kid, etc. But I know it's not going to happen. And I don't mind so much.

So, mildly conservative, but mainly liberal.

I'm the same way on this, what would that make me? :P

As long as you don't physically hurt anyone or their property without their explicit consent I don't give a f**k what you do.

Media: Let filth reign. Change the channel if you don't like it.

GLBT: I don't care.

Marijuana: Legalize it, if only just to fix the prison overcrowding problem.

Abortion: Anti-life

US Immigration: Keep them out until they're legal.

Jails: Reform needed

Slightly conservative, but I have certain socialist principles, and I am in support of certain liberties. But I'm conservative because of the way I think criminals should be punished, the way that I believe certain freedoms should be taken away in times of conflict, and many other things. I'm also strongly against most recreational drugs, including tobacco and cannabis, and all of the hard drugs.
