Parents with cancer may miss teen stress
BARCELONA, Spain, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Adolescents may have post-traumatic stress when a parent is diagnosed with cancer, but parents often underestimate the problem, a Dutch study found.
A cancer diagnosis is among those life experiences that can be so stressful that it is traumatic, but only a fraction of people who develop post-traumatic stress symptoms go on to develop post-traumatic stress disorder, said study leader Dr. Gea Huizinga of the University Medical Center in Groningen, the Netherlands. view article
