wow interesting article- A dog with a migraine? Maybe, but you'll never know for sure
I've read some stuff about people who think their dogs are autistic because they're lethargic or don't interact well with other dogs or can't read other dogs' body language very well or have a lot of separation anxiety or are mean or destructive seemingly without reason.

But I don't think anybody can say for sure those kinds of things are caused by autism as opposed to behavioral issues or poor training or maybe even genetics.-view article

some of the cats am know, and used to know are behavioraly autistic [eg,act autistic, but no idea whether they are autistic by definition],if they were human, they would definitely be diagnosed with either AD or AS.
others am know are so NT-like.
Biscuit [in avatar] seems very on the spectrum, she has severe sensory problems [extremely hyper sensitive to especially touch and sound] she is very routine based, and when she comes in from outside, she goes for food even though she is not hungry-as she is so used to doing it,then demands to get into the front room which dad keeps locked so he has to go and get key to unlock it-she walks all around the room and comes out,or goes to sleep on the computer chair-she then goes up stairs and to bed.
she does not like eye contact,or being stroked a certain way.
she only likes certain foods, has specific places for sleep and does not know how to interact with others, she can overdo it,but she just wants another kitty friend,as she will sit and watch over them when they are ill, even when they have swiped her for following them around and watching them sloppily crap on the litter tray.
come november/bonfire night, both am and biscuit will be on the floor, meltdowning, will have to see if vets will prescribe vallium for her.

am do believe animals can be autistic, and think it'd be good for behavioral research to be done into this.
