All right, this is a rather superficial post, but...

Does anyone give a fake name at Starbucks? You know how (in some countries) the employees ask for your name and write it on the cup? Because my real name is so common (and therefore boring, imo), I give the name Adrienne at Starbucks. It's the only time I can get away with "changing" my name (and the only time I can successfully lie, although I do sometimes get paranoid that they KNOW I'm faking my name, lol). Now Adrienne is a nickname, and my username here is a nickname for my nickname.

Anybody else do this? It's strangely liberating... :P

My daughter gives her name as "Lequitia" -- to give a nice African American-attempt-of-a-name in our embarrassingly white-bread community.

Her real name is Kate. Yup. Boring.

At Panera Bread, they take your order and then you sit down, and they call your name when the coffee is ready. Occasionally, I'll hear the employee call for "Superman"

My name is Rubén, the problem is that in spanish, Rubén sounds awfully similar to very common names, such a José or Miguel, so I often say my name is Filomeno (funny and fairly uncommon name), so I recognise when they call me.

Hola Filomeno, otro mexicano!
Hi Filomeno!

Sometimes I say my brother's name :P

On a related note, I do it often when ordering food delivered to my house :P
