Both have difficulties understanding persons of the other group (AS vs. NT).

Both can have difficulties understanding why people from the other group don't think as they think themselves.

Both can have difficulties reading the body language of people from the other group.

Both can be messy.
Both can be clean
Both can say 'stuff it, I'll do it later.'
Both can say 'no, I've got to do it now or I never will.'
Both can over eat.
Both skip meals deliberately.
Both can eat the right balance.
Both can be fit.
Both love sports.
Both can have no interest in sports.
Both love animals.
Both are not cat-people.
Both wonder why people make such a big deal about dogs.
Both are scared of spiders, heights, drowning, etc.
Both struggle to get employed.
Both are intelligent.
Both love music of all genres.
Both fall in love.
Both struggle with keeping a relationship together.
Both may hate their job.
Both fight with siblings.
Both can be clumsy.
Both can be argumentative.
Both can have short tempers.
Both can get really obsessed about their special interest (should meet the Harry Potter fans at MuggleSpace - I even started an AS group which had hardly any members)
Both love playing videogames.
Both can become ill.
Both can be depressed.
Both get anxious.
Both can be sad, happy, angry etc.

Both can waste many hours on the internet.

I know I've mentioned this before but a thread was started at a music forum about things people did that they thought no one else did. Well of course I brought up AS traits and many of them related to it. Not wanting to look people in the eye, to types of things we imagine, to the way we felt about people.
So when people ask 'is this an AS thing' I just think 'no, it's a human thing.'

why don't anyone think my big lecture about AS is good? I thought that'd get through to a lot of these aspies. I'm just trying to say that there ain't a lot of difference between NTs and Aspies.
What gets me most is that all aspies think NTs are absolutely perfect in every way. That ain't true, not by a long shot.
My 18 year old cousin, who is a NT, is as awkward as they come. She has loads of mates, loves parties, wears make-up, dresses up, loves celebraties, has about 400 friends on facebook - you know, she's just a typical 18 year old - just a year younger than me, and I don't like none of that and I don't have 400 friends on facebook - only about 6 friends pffft! Laugh if you want! LOL But my cousin ain't - like you all aspies think - perfect. She sometimes acts like a 9 year old - laying about on the floor, can't be bothered to do anything for herself, ect.
She gets angry if one of her plans gets cancelled, and starts shouting at her Mum about it, although it's not her Mum's fault.
I'm talking about a typical young adult NT here.

So all aspies (except me) think: NTs are perfect in every way, have no habits, grow up good and proper as soon as they reach 15 or so, have no selfish ways at all, never anxious, never obsessive, love loud noises,

Read very carefully:
Shyness: I know some NTs who are incredibly shy, and hate parties
Gifted: My other NT cousin, 15 year old boy, is getting good grades in Science, Maths and Art
Strange habits: My NT brother, 13, keeps nodding his head a lot -a very noticable habit
Obsessive: My NT collegue loves guitars and collects everything to do with guitars, like Led Zeppelin albums, pictures of guitars, and is now building a music studio. You got to become obsessed to gain a good career and life
Meltdowns: Lots and lots of NT people experience breakdowns. I know LOADS of people who have had nervous breakdowns. My Mum, for example, and it wasn't because of me, it was because of her marriage and the loss of her sister
Loud noise: I was sitting on the bus the other day and a passenger - who I knew - put her hands over her ears when a loud ambulance siren roared by
Rude: Ohh! Blimey! I don't know how many times I go out in the street and come across rude people! Every single day I come across endless rude people. Someone barged out of a shop door right into me, and I thought was very rude.
Routines: Say no more!! Every single collegue at my work (who are all NTs) hate their days to be swapped. One of them wants to leave but is reluctant because of the change she will have to face.
Difficulty in relationship: Don't you people read magazines?! About 600 people split up in Britain EVERY DAY. Not many marriages last these days.
And, believe it or not, a survey was completed the other day about the reasons why people get divorced - and you do know what the answer was? 89 percent of marriages break up because of uncontrollable obsessions with someone else - which is another word for ''cheating''.
There. My word is done. Good day

I totally agree with this bit.
Yesterday in the supermarket I saw a man push a woman's trolley out of his way in a temper, and this man didn't know the woman. I told my Mum, and she said he was probably an NT. No Aspie would do that - Aspies are too clever to know better than look a grump in public!
So if you really got to know lots of NTs properly, you will know they have lots of strange habits and likes and dislikes LOL

Great thread! It seems like the differences are dwarfed by the similarities--aren't we all human?

- are drawn to beauty and music and art.
- help strangers in need of aid when the situation arises.
- feel joy and pain.
- have unique sets of strengths and weaknesses.
- feel lost sometimes.

It's a stupid question, to be honest, people here act like 'Aspies' and 'NTs' are from different planets (an us vs them mentality). We're human beings so no matter what we have we're mostly the same.
