Both are horrible ignorant of people who're different in some ways.

Both act on their emotions and tend to exclude reason.

That's what I have witnessed, "NT"s and high-functioning autistic people tend to act very similar and nobody realises this. It's funny.

LOL, I think most people do realize it.

We're more similar than we are different. It's just that the *ways* in which we are different can often tend to hold us back in important ways.

Similarities between NTs and Aspies
Both can be naive
Both can be arrogant

Both can enjoy math, science, social studies, etc.
Both enjoy art

And many, many other things...

Christ yeah... that's very true... what's interesting though is the 'way' in which both can be naive and arrogant... they can differ slightly.

imo there is, in a few ways, quite a vast difference... of course it must depend on the extremity of the AS surely?
For me, I'd say there ain't much difference but in some very small aspects there's quite a vast difference...
Well it's definately obvious to people that I ain't exactly what one would expect... and to people who know about this subject I think they are quick to suspect that I have aspergers.

Then again, perhaps some NT's are very similar to me even in those small aspects...

Both can get depressed.
Both can think they know better than their shrinks.
Both groups can fight amongst themselves.
Both groups can fight against each other.
Both groups can debate.
Both groups can have criminal records.
Both groups get lazy and stressed and finally say "f**k it all!"

Both tend to fear that which they don't understand.
Both get frustrated by others not thinking the same way they do.
Both can be stubborn, obnoxious or self important.
Both can be brilliant, wise and gentle.
Both make mistakes and few of either own up to them.

AS and NT are just one variable in a long list of things that make us who we are. And the differences between us are perhaps less than the differences between one make of car and another, or between Pepsi and Coke.

I understand it to mean "Both NTs and people with AS really want to have deep conversations, it's just that NTs will also have shallow conversations and people with AS don't like to, so NTs socialize more than people with AS. But both really want to make deep connections."

Aspies are just as good as an NT. There's more similarities than differences.

Most NTs are selfish, rude and ignorant. You name it! Every day I often come across someone rude or ignorant.
NTs also have obsessions, special interests, ect
Some NTs have low self-esteem, some are awkward, some find it hard to make friends, some even get bullied all through school.
You don't have to have asperger's to get bullied, or need extra help, or can't make friends properly.
They say Autistic children are most hardwork than NT children. That's not true, mate! Haven't you ever seen Supernanny? Those children are awkward, naughty, horrible, out of control, ect. None of them have been diagnosed with anything.
I knew these children who had massive panic attacks of going to school, and it was nothing to do with their upbringing, and they weren't diagnosed with anything. They just couldn't go to school and mix. Their Mum had to teach them at home - there was nothing else to do. I was really surprised at that one! But they were NTs. They go to work now, and are fine with mixing - they have nothing wrong.
So with Aspergers, you are practically an NT. You're not DIFFERENT. You're not an alian from Mars. You're an able-bodied, average human from Earth - just like everybody else. What if you had Down's Syndrome? Or born disfigured? Or born deaf or blind? You'd be more ''different'' then, so just consider yourself lucky and normal. I hope this message has made you feel more better about yourselves.

Have you ever heard the saying ''there's nought no queer as folk''? That's absolutely true. Also, haven't you heard the saying ''it takes all sorts to make a world''?

So, like all Aspies think ''NTs are perfect'' they are not. Nobody's perfect. In fact, probably every NT has got some form of AS. Some are shy and have low confidence, some get very obsessed and base their lives round their special interests, some seem aloof a lot of times and like to slouch off on their own, some are passionate about their routines, some find it hard to get along with their peers, some hate loud noises,. . . it's true! I bet you're surprised, and probably some of you are disagreeing with me, but it's true. I know lots and lots of NTs, and all of them have at least one or two of an AS symptom. If they didn't have anything and were all perfect, this world will be a pretty boring place!

We're human
Depending on the person, we can have the same interests
Depending on the person, we can have similar idiosyncracies
Depending on the person, we can enjoy the same food and drink
Depending on the person, we can enjoy the same fiction
We have emotions
We breathe (unless there is something physically wrong with us which makes us require a machine to do it for us or that we're dead).
We get born, we live and we die.
We often share the same organs (depending on the person)
and so on and so fourth

Not really.
I would rather be like a computer than like a human.
Average humans fall easily for fallacies and manipulation.

This is not a good argument.
There is no fact.
Boring is completely subjective.
Perfection is also completely subjective.
A perfect world cannot exist because perfection is subjective.

I cannot know about every single person with Asperger syndrome or without.
I thus cannot make assumptions based on fact.
