My mom's mother died on July 17th, 2002. She was already fading away before that. I went to her funeral and saw her body, I think I blocked it out, all I can remember is how cold she was.
My dad's mother died November of last year. I saw her at the end of May or June and I knew that was the last time I would see her, she was skinny and losing her grip on reality but she still told me that she loved me.
Two great-uncles on my dad's side of the family. I knew them because they owned the farm my dad worked on for over 40 years, I used to go to that farm and help with chores and visit my grandma (his mom).
My aunt's most long-standing boyfriend. He was always nice to me, I cared about him like an uncle.
An elderly woman I was friends with from church. She used to hold Bible studies at her home. I went to her funeral, even though I kind of watched it from another building because I don't like being around many people and the church was supposed to be crowded.
The mother of two children that I knew from church. I didn't know her much though, just her kids.
The husband of a woman I liked who I also met at church.
A neighbor was shot and killed by his wife's lover. I didn't know him well but he was a classmate's father and I did go over to their house sometimes.

A few people I met at school have passed away over the years, they were not my classmates, but a couple were my younger brother's classmates.

Since someone else mentioned pets: My dad and my older brother's cat, Big Boy passed away on June 26th, 2007. I loved him even though he wasn't my cat, I helped take care of him. My cat, Whitie, passed away on August 30th, 2008. She was my first pet, I think I lost a part of myself when she died.

My grandmother Ada died in 1988 of 'old-age'.

My dad John died 14th March 1997 of liver failure after a lifetime of suffering alcoholism.

My uncle Alan (dads side) died 2008 of oral and lung cancer as a result of smoking.

My uncle Cliff (mothers side) died 1993 of suffocation after a seizure while ill in bed.

My 'aunt' Solveig (mothers childhood friend, no relation) died 1999 of breast cancer.

My cousin David (mothers side) died 2009 of a heart attack.

My high school best friend Alex died 1998 after a car crash.

My friend Chris died 2005 due to suicide via drug overdose.

My friend Angela died 1998 due to liver failure after failed suicide via drug overdose.

Pets; Cats (Taffy, Sampson, Sasha, Copper, Casper, Willow, Rico), Chipmunks (Sugar, Spice, Bubble, Squeak, Floss), Hamsters (Gizmo, Honey), Dogs (Cindy, Blackie), Fish (Sampson, Delilah), Frogs (August, September - cats being the biggest loss, Willow and Rico were the hardest as they were so young...I miss them a lot, if I'm honest I miss them more than I miss the people who have passed on.

Yesterday, one woman I used to know quite well, who was my cousin's friend, helping her a lot when she was undergoing a TEMPESTUOUS divorce, got hit by a car when she was taking a walk, and died. She was a nurse.

Today some guy, who was the father of my kindergarten friend, died. This girl had very curly hair and had a great talent for drawing and painting, I thought she was going to be a famous painter but when I googled her, she so far hasn't achieved anything in this field. Her mom had a serious stroke some years ago too, and was in a coma for like a month.

My cousin died last year due to a medical accident following a diabetic incident.

My grandfather died a few years ago, that was REALLY difficult. He had lung cancer that had spread all over.

My great-grandmother died about 4 years before that. She was old and died in her sleep.

My cousin died a few years ago as well while being in a diabetic coma.

My friend died from anorexia when we were in grade 12.

My cousin died about 12 years ago from a massive heart attack.

My uncle died when I was around 7 of lung cancer

I think that is all I know...

One of my best friends died about four years ago, and I didn't find out about it until several months later. He was one of the only people who really understood me and my quirks.

Younger brother died in 1999 of liver disease (aged 16 months), I was very young so I wasn't really that affected by it.
Dad's dad died when I was 1, but I never met him.
Dad's brother died of cancer (bowel I think) in 2002. I didn't have much to do with him.
2 of dad's aunties died some years ago, one was breast cancer and one was sudden death.
2 of my mum's uncles, one from bowel cancer and one I'm not sure. I knew the second one very well but surprisingly my reaction to his passing was minute.
Various pets, the most notable being my cat (2003), she was put down because she was on her way out (stupid reason imo, animals die when they're ready.) It was the only death I've ever cried about.

As you get older the list gets longer, and no longer a exceptional event really. So I will only mention the ones that stand out to me for some reason.

A schoolmate friend, who fell out of a tree in the summer after 5th grade.

A cousin in some forgotten action in Vietnam

My two grandmothers who died within two weeks of each other.

A orhaned Robin I was trying to rehabilitate to the wild.

My jumpmaster trying to watch out for me when a sudden wind rose in the desert

Four pilots in formation who followed each other into the ground.

A co-worker, when a telephone pole used on a target range decided to fall.

A High School friend and then Fire Captain under the collasping south tower on 9/11

A soldier who committed suicide

A soldiers wife who committed suicide

My grandfather who passed away back in 2009, my family and I used to visit him and my grandmother (who, as of now, is still alive) a lot when we were young. Seeing my family (especially my mom) devastated over his death was heartbreaking.

One of my uncles who passed away last year, he died from lung cancer. He started smoking during his teenage years and had a hard time quitting. The sad part is, even though I knew him, my siblings and I never got a chance to really get to know him. It's a shame, my parents told me that he was a great person.

A LOT of people, mostly the older ones, let it be relatives or teachers at high school.
