Interesting, by definition, the word juice can be used as the slang term for an alcoholic beverage, but also by definition, it is fermented juice, which is not naturally contained in the fruit. Again, I am left to wonder...

juice ( P ) Pronunciation Key (js)
n.

A fluid naturally contained in plant or animal tissue: fruit juice; meat braised in its own juices.
A bodily secretion: digestive juices.
The liquid contained in something that is chiefly solid.
A substance or quality that imparts identity and vitality; essence.
Slang. Vigorous life; vitality.
Slang. Political power or influence; clout.
Slang.
Electric current.
Fuel for an engine.
Slang. Funds; money.
Slang. Alcoholic drink; liquor.
Slang. Racy or scandalous gossip.

wine ( P ) Pronunciation Key (wn)
n.

A beverage made of the fermented juice of any of various kinds of grapes, usually containing from 10 to 15 percent alcohol by volume.
A beverage made of the fermented juice of any of various other fruits or plants.
Something that intoxicates or exhilarates.
The color of red wine

I say no, because it is a juice that has been processed to become something else.

In Scotland they refer to "pop", carbonated drinks like Cola, as "juice"!

Not really, as juices are usually deemed non-alcoholic.

Maybe wine is juice and not juice at the same time. It's juice because it's made from a liquid derivative of fruit, but it's not juice because it goes through a fermentation process that yields ethyl alcohol. Paradoxical, isn't it?

Why does it matter? It's as pointless as asking if a visor is considered a hat.

Why should it matter if it matter, or not? Perhaps it is pointless to you, but that does not mean it is pointless to me. There is nothing stated in the rules that we can't use these forums to address general perseverations, or curiosities if they aren't directly related to some Aspie trait, theory, or copmmon interest. In fact, this is an Aspie interest. I am an Aspie and I am interested in hearing other people's thoughts on this.

The United States Government does not see wine as a juice either. Otherwise, it would be purchasable on WIC vouchers and Food Stamps

Oops! Thinking out loud. Sorry. I still wonder if a visor is considered a hat or not, but never saw it as a worthwhile conversation.

If wine isn't a juice because it's been made over, then what about all those cheap juices that are barely flavoring and water???

I never thought about whether, or not a visor is a hat. I will have to look into that one later myself.

Good questions. I have trouble considering one of those "juices" with only 10% fruit juice to actually be juice.
