I don't have much experience drinking, so any advice on what to order would be a big help! Here are my restrictions:

1. Not TOO alcoholic, please - I'm not a big drinker, so when people invite me out to a pub, I don't want something so loaded with alcohol that I'm going to pass out after the first drink. I have not built up a tolerance (and don't intend to).

2. Something common - any drinks that I can find at a lot of pubs would be great. An old stand-by is what I need, not something so rare that I'd have to cross the globe for it.

3. My drinking preferences - The only alcoholic drink I like so far is Smirnoff Ice (I've only tried about 3 drinks in my life, lol.) I like it because it doesn't have too much alcohol and goes down easy, and to me it just tastes like a lemonade or something. I love fruit drinks. Any alcoholic smoothies would be awesome. I've tried beer (don't know what) and it was okay. I hate wine. Bailey's (original) is just okay, although I should give the mint a try because I love mint.

Any suggestions? I just checked out that beer thread and it reminded me that I am pretty ignorant when it comes to this topic and could use some suggestions...Thanks! :D

Go to the bar. Look at the bar and see what's on there. Buy half a pint of a beer you like the look of and try that. Most beer is at about the 4% mark - there are some delicious real ale beers in England. Enjoy!

I like beer. If you want something sweet, tastey and low in alcahol content, you could try hard cider or hard lemonade. Most bars at least have one cider. There are also alcaholic versions of a lot of soda flavors (grape, orange, cherry, etc.). These also have about the same alcahol content as beer.

There are some beers that are especially flavorful like dark beers and Belgian white ales. These tend to have a little spice and/or sweetness, in contrast to the standard beer.

EvilKimEvil: Yes, but England tends to have cask ales, an industrial cider, a few soft drinks and a couple of keg lagers. There are bottled beers behind the bar but they ain't cheap. I'd have a pint of whatever ale looks good as I enter the pub.

Ordering an ale is always appropriate for a lady.

It's either that or insipid-tasting lager. It depends what you want from a pub I suppose - a proper pint or a nice little glass of wine.

go up to the bar, look the barman straight in the mouth and say "Give me a flagon of your finest mead landlord. My mouth is as dry as a nuns crotch!"

From what you've posted, it seems that you have a preference for fruity flouncy colorful girl drinks. So...margaritas!

Hmm...
Ciders are quite good, Westons is my favorite, Bulmers is nearly as good if you cant get Westons.
Beers, maybe a Leffe or a Budweiser. As Tequila said, its good stuff and not too strong. You can also get alcohol free beers at most places, i think there is a version of Becks and some others.
Wine. A small glass of a weak wine would do you fine.

Weston's 1880 Cider. Mmm, lovely. A bit strong though at 8.2%!

Vodka because it's the purest form of al(hic)ol you can get.
Beer & wine are out because of the yeast
Baileys because of the casein

Oh, vodka and orange - bleurgh! After puking up a few times on the stuff I won't drink it any more. I've had it with spirits. The strongest thing I'll drink these days is the aforementioned cider.

OK - you want to eat something in addition to getting smashed. It'll do your liver better if you do. So think protein. The snacks they give you (peanuts, olives etc) won't cut it - they just make you thirstier. ;-)
