That's sorta half right. Orignally the Federal Parliment was going to be in either Sydney or Melbourne, the two most important/biggest/etc cities at the time (arguably they still are). But the issue could not be resolved adequately without one side feeling snubbed. So the city of Canberra was created, sorta half-way between Melbourne and Sydney. This became the seat of federal power.
I believe the ACT was created later for the reasons you state.

During the American Revolutionary War, Philadelphia was in fact the largest city with an English-speaking population in the world, greater than New York or even London.

The best thing about Canberra for NSW people is that you just have to go across the border to get all your fireworks, pornographic and political needs fulfilled!

Of course. If you've ever seen any movies you will know that the Americans always win.

Excess power must not have been necessary back in the year of our birth. My gosh, it's been quite a while since I've learned about the Kuomintang Dynasty. I was in 10th grade!

A penchant for cigarettes, deepfried and unhealthy foods and sitting on our backsides all day has led Scotland to become the sick man of Europe and some people from places in Glasgow to have a shorter life expectancy than your average Down Syndrome baby.
