Get an imagination.

I second that.

Thirded.

Anyway, I'm having a lot of fun with my new imaginary friend, Mayuri. Mad scientists are awesome, especially if they're on your side.

As a child I had a whole houseful! I used to "collect" them, such as favourite characters from TV programmes, footballers, etc. But as far as I can remember they were all male (I remember Mr Sulu & Mr Chekov being among them.) apart from "Jennifer", who was even more hopeless & helpless at everything than I was and constantly needed protecting!

I talk to myself, pretending that I was the characters of Kangaroo Jack and Flushed Away. I guess that counts as imaginary friends beacuse I make up stories for my favorite movie characters. I've been doing it since I was young. :alien:

No, in fact the first time I heard of imaginary friends it confused me a great deal. The whole concept was alien to me--I thought it meant the imaginer was insane for quite some time.

I'm embarassed to even admit this but it's something that I could really use some support on... What about using real people as imaginary friends? I can remember doing that as young as 4 years old, and at age 31 my mind still insists on going in that direction all the time. It's people who I know IRL and usually I'd like to get to know them better or spend more time with them... instead of doing it for real I have this tendency to just pretend I'm with them, talking to them and doing things with them or whatever (my day-to-day activities that I'm already doing), much like an imaginary friend. I've been fighting it for many years now but can't seem to shake it - because I know it greatly diminishes my desire and need for real-life socializing/spending time with/talking to people. It's time-consuming, and I get annoyed and irritatable when a real person interrupts me when I'm lost in thought entertaining imaginary companions in my head, which is no good. Anyone else do this? I hate it and I'd love to find a way to stop doing it but haven't found anything that works yet. On a forum this size there must be someone else out there who can relate...

I don't remember having an imaginary friend as a child but I have one now. Its supposed to be a sign of madness, but who cares at my age, I am just doing something I missed out on as a child, now there is nothing wrong with that is there :D

I suppose if I ever have to see a psychiatrist it would be better not to mention my friend though :P

same as an earlier post i have lots of imaginery enemies  :!: most days when not calm the presence of these enemies seems very real, i am my own friend as i talk to myself a lot and ask my own advice, i also try to love myself as no one else is going to, i trust myself a lot more than i do anyone else to.

do you talk to them telepathically or do you mean yourself inside your head.
