We watched Back the the Future last night. Now, from an enlightened autism spectrum point of view, I saw Marty's dad and Doc, clearly as autistic. Biff was the bad bullying NT and Marty was the nice NT.

Without autism spectrum characters, moveis would be boring.

I didn't mean to put this post in the school section. Oh well, Back to the Future had a lot of high school stuff in it. Slacker! :D

Doc is probably my all-time favorite movie character.
I always wanted my own mad scientist, with whom I could hang out in a secret underground laboratory.
Do you really feel that way about ASD characters (in movies, books, or what have you)?

Doc is a perfect example of an aspie. George McFly probably has social anxiety rather than AS, since his social skills after he knocked out Biff seems perfectly normal.

But George loved geeky things like science fiction. Maybe he was an aspy who suddenly found a way to think he was as good as everyone else and then stopped being so scared of NTs.

I'll admit that in the last scene he acted so normal that, in real life, you couldn't imagine a successful write of sci-fi being like that.

Doc IS wonderful. We all need a mad scientist hang out, don't we?

We bought a really big house and are thinking that we need to collect mad scientists to come live with our resident mad scientists, my husband and son. All they do with each other and their friends is to socialize with weird equations and fantasies about what they could do with physics. All beyond me. But once in awhile, I ask them to figure out geeky fantasies of my own.

When I play Nethack, my favorite spell is Polymorph so that led me to ask them if they could imagine someday messing around with atoms so change them into other atoms, so that I could have a Polymorph spell in real life.
