Some eCommerce merchants have already given up on online advertising to grow sales by word of mouth instead. If the for profit guys find online advertising a poor return for their money, why would it make any sense for a non-profit like WrongPlanet.net. I am assuming that WrongPlanet.net is set up as a non-profit. The site will grow simply by allowing its reputation to build organically. There is no need to pay for advertisement. And if WrongPlanet.net is a for profit venture that Alex intends to sell, that would count as a violation of trust as far as I am concerned.

Wrong Planet is not a registered non profit entity (as noted on donation page and at bottom of all pages on WP). Lots of nonprofits advertise, including the likes of Autism Speaks. Advertising is effective for growing membership. I wanted to register as a nonprofit but was warned against doing so due to the paperwork nightmare. As a result, for tax purposes, Wrong Planet is a subsidiary of my limited liability company called Yellow Sneaker Media, LLC.

This may change in the future.

If you don't advertise you don't sell. That's all there is to it to me. Many movies are total flops because nobody knew, they were out watching the movies they saw the trailers for on TV, not a little review blurb in the back of the newspaper.

Would we all know about Aspie Affection had Alex not made a little banner for it and stuck it on the top of some of the pages on WP? The same goes for Billy the Kid and other such things.

And more money means less need to constantly nag the users about donating to support WP awareness to make us all completely broke, ahayes. :o

Do you make a habit of posting nearly 10,000 times a year on all the shiт sites you visit?

Well, you've made 15 posts so far today, and that day's far from over in your part of the world.

Yellow sneakers actually sound kind of cool.
