As an only child to rather ethnic, Catholic parents whom I suspect are aspie as well, I really didn't have a choice but learn how to sacrifice my will to "alpha-aspies". I know "alpha-aspie" sounds like an oxymoron, but not all aspies are passive and withdrawn. The flipside to depression and shyness is anger and narcissism--a troubled aspie makes choices daily on which road to take. Unfortunately, during my younger days, I found myself clung to those who appreciated my masochism more than anything else.

Living in a large family sometimes means I have to give things up whether I want to or not. It's something you get used to.

When I want to, I know it, and it isn't a sacrifice for me because I WANT to do it. :)
