Nobody is born autistic. You were all poisoned by mercury from vaccines. Get rid of the mercury and you have a chance to be normal.

If he didn't sound so serious, I would think he was parodying a curebie parent.

They never had vaccines in the old days, still lots of Asies even if very misunderstood then - but looks like some people stay stuck in the past or have been poisoned by some think themselves...

What is normal anyway, we are all born as individuals... but I would much rather be an Aspie then a narrow minded NT!

of course, not by any way of treatment though. some are scary weird.
not everyone would be happy to live with it the rest of their lives, though.
I'd rather not be cured because of my own reasons >.<;
would probably get rid of bad stuff like anxiety and stutter problems though, if i could.
but some of my friends want to be, so id like them to have one too.

So you're saying that if if we're slipping into the NT disease we might need some mercury supplements? That's bad, I'm not sure if the pharmacy carries mercury supplements. Where would I find the stuff? I don't think they even put mercury in thermometers anymore.

Both Full blown autism and autism spectrum disorders should not be cured.

Just because some people don't understand or approve of something doesn't mean that it therefore requires fixing or eradicating.

I didn't vote in your poll. "Should" is one of my least favourite words. I am not a curebie. I actually value my existence and those of my tribe.

I don't believe in a full blown "cure." I believe in an alleviation of the symptoms which each person finds unpleasant.

I don`t think the word `cure` is appropriate in this case, so I can`t really vote

Improve, alleviate negative symptoms, train, teach maybe.
Also how about `curing` NTs of some of their prejudices and teach them better acceptance of differences, we might then find that many of our difficulties don`t actually need a `cure` as they wont be so difficult!

I would vote a definite yes to "do you support a transformative, inclusive, far-reaching societal change in attitudes to people who are on the spectrum". YES! YES! A milion times yes!

The simple idea of intellectual disabilities is saddening. These are humans, with one life (just like the rest of us) who can't think brilliant thoughts, get excluded from life, have to get watched over all the time, and don't even know of all of this happens. That's not a life I would like to live. Why would anyone think that that shouldn't be changed? My view is that there should be a cure for intellectual disabilities and language deficiency, and an optional Ritalin-type symptom reducer for aspies like myself.

I can't be cured of autism any more than I can be cured of having brown (mostly gray) hair or blue-gray eyes. I don't think that anyone can be cured of autism. What can be done is provide services, help those who need help, especially those who are severely affected. As for those on the "higher" end of the spectrum, we (or I) could still use help in understanding my specific autism issues. Fortunately, I have a psychiatrist who is knowlegeable in autism who is helping me.

Autism is not a disease, so it cannot be "cured".

The poll it worse than useless.
