Ever since I was 15 years old, I have towered over my other brothers and sisters. Sometimes I think that I am a "bastard" son, with a different father than my other siblings. Is it possible that AS caused my entire body to grow faster (taller) than would have been normal? I cannot find any evidence, yet, that I had a different father. So, what made me so darned tall, compared to my siblings? I also have a higher IQ, although AS might have caused me to be more of a "book-worm" than my siblings, resulting in a greater wealth of knowledge in my head.

My minute personal experience is that autistic males are extraordinarily tall. Aspies, however are all different heights. My adult aspie son is small. Or maybe he just seems that way next to my adopted kids who are huge.

I'm 6ft 5ins tall and the other Aspie I know is just under my height. But I'm not sure if it's a trend with Aspies or just co-incidence (my father is also tall)

I can imagine it'd be possible for AS to be a result of a syndrome that causes tall stature.

I also think there might be an overlap between AS and Marfan's, since there's supposedly an overlap in general between AS and joint laxity (Marfan's causes both tall stature and joint laxity, among other things).

I dunno, I'm 5'10(I'm female..). My son who is autistic is pretty tall for his age, he's 26 months and is almost 39 inches. Then again, that could be because I'm tall and my bio-dad was tall.
Considering my Mom(who was diagnosed with autism when she was a small child) is only 5'3.

Really?

Blimey, the more I hang around here the more I learn about myself. I can turn my feet backwards... always thought that was just a neat party trick, never realised it could be something to do with my aspiedom!

The correlation between height and autism might have to do with the genetic groupings of autistic people. For example, how many Italians or Portuguese autistics versus German and Danish autistics? My husband is really tall, I was supposed to be taller (I stopped growing at 11, I blame calcium deficits) and my son is really tall for his age.
My adoptive family is all "mediterranean", Italian, Spanish and Portuguese-and they're uberNT, short and everyone in the family is too. I have one cousin who has one autistic child (out of 3) and she married someone of northern European descent (and she's half that too).

I am 6'5", and no one in my family is anywhere close to 6'. I also have lax joints in my fingers and have little subcutaneous tissue (I'm thin).

im 5ft3" and 1/4"

Mom-NT-5'3"
Dad-AS-5'8"
Sister-NT-5'6-7"
Brother-NT-5'7"

I take after my mom and my siblings take after dad(in height).

I don't think it has have any more to do with AS than before.

They're both considered genetic, but I doubt its interrelated.

People in the U.S.(as a nation, in general) are shorter than people in Europe.

I'm 6'3'' and of German/Polish decent; everyone in my family is at least 3" shorter than myself.
