Can anyone design?

I only ask because I am doing a fanzine entirely based on 7" singles - now I know a fanzine doesn't call for the most perfect design ever, but I'm so bad at this stuff I can't make anything I'm happy with. I would love to hear from anyone who can do nice detailed illustrations and set up laylouts that don't make people want to poke their own eyes out. Anyone?

I know a bit about design, but I don't know what help I can offer since I'm not sure what you're after. What is this fanzine about? What are your ideas?

As far as layout, I can just say that my general rule is simplicity.
