If I weren't Roman Catholic and were American, I'd be making preparations to do so right now. I love their lifestyle. They're the only Protestants I truly admire.

Semi-related to Amish, what would you do with a year of Rumspringa? (Running around time-the year or so Amish teens have to investigate the world at large)

In therapy they tell people to take each other's side. For example, you would pretend to be the other person and say all the things that made them upset using their point of view. Then they would pretend to be you, and say the things that make you upset. That way you can ensure that you both understand the other person's point of view. In any event, it's best if you take turns talking, write notes of what each other says (to ensure you both understand, and you can refer back), and that you try to keep emotion out of the discussion as much as possible.

Also remember any difference of opinion can only have four solutions:
1. Your way
2. Their way
3. A middleground (you both concede a little bit to find a happy medium by negotiating)
4. A totally new solution that neither of you thought of before

When I consider arguments in those four ways, I realise they aren't so difficult to settle.
