Does anyone on here brew there own beer? I got a basic kit for christmas and tomorrow i'm going to pick up glass bottles, caps and a capper. I figure it will be 2-3 weeks before this batch is done but I have a feeling this could turn into an obsession very quick.

This batch is going to be a fairly basic test run but my next one i'm going to try for a guiness knock off.

Brewing beer means making your own beer.

Our across the road neighbours brews his own beer. I don't drink beer, but my husband likes our neighbour's home brew.

I made my first and only batch up in Alaska.
I thought I had ruined it when I was moving it to the fermentor (if I remember the steps correctly).
It actually turned out well and I got lots of compliments for it.
I like it okay, but I don't drink more than a glass of alcohol at a sitting, if that.

My wife and I had saved up a bunch of longneck Lonestar Beer bottles and that's what I used.

I just looked online for the book I used but didn't find it, although I'm sure most any book works.

I wish you good luck on your first batch! It was fun... oh... remember to take good notes!
I still have mine in a journal.

I want to make rootbeer someday... I can drink that a lot easier AND drink it with my daughter!
Beer is a no-no for her... 14y.o. (plus, she isn't crazy about alcohol anyway... ranks it way down next to smoking as things to avoid).

I was brewing years ago, but haven't done it in awhile: very labor intensive, as all the bottles have to be sterilized.

Great fun though! :D

I love cooking, but I don't do anything that involves sterilizing equipment. So no pickling, preserving or fermenting.

I don't have much interest in brewing beer. I would rather leave that tot he professional, and gladly buy them for the beer. :P

My great grandfather brewed his own beer.

Me...I am 16, don't drink it, and have absolutely no clue how to brew it

If I had known about brewing when I was 16 the latter half of high school would have been a blur. :)

We have plans to homebrew once the renovation is finished. But the way the renovation is going (or not ;) ), we might just start brewing and be done with it.
