Having Asperger's to me is like trying to drive a car with three kids bouncing around inside demanding your full attention and sometimes even trying to grab the steering wheel. Where the outside of the car is your autism world that nobody sees or understands except you and the three kids demanding your attention are the NTs.

Aspergers is to me like a shadow. It's not who I am, it's no me, but it is there, and you cannot get rid of it. Though you can bring in light, all around you, and it will not be visible, I know it's there. Others may not be able to see it, but I will still know.

Asperger's to me is like a penguin. A penguin called Asperger's. Who flaps his wings every now and then but usually just eats and sleeps and waddles a bit and doesn't really get in the way much. I love my penguin.

Having Aspergers to me is like.....having an "Having Aspergers to me is like" segment to about 15 differnet chapters of life. Having Asperger's to me THIS chapter is like a return to chapters 1-3 when I knew where I was going and how I was going to get there; but characters in chapters 4-13 knew where I was going and how I was going to get there; and so, instead of reaching chapters 4-13 LIKE I WAS SUPPOSED TO, alternate endings ensued. I am back at chapters 1-3 and that is as far as I am ever going to go.

Having Aspergers to me in chapters 1-3 was like :roll: :wink: :roll: and :cry:
Having Aspergers to me in chapters 4-13 was like :?: :!: :?: :!: :?: :!: :cry:
Having Aspergers to me during 14 and the present chapter has been :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :roll: :cry:

Having Asperger's to me is like living life in solitary confinement. You are trapped inside this box, slowly digging your way out. Just when you think that you've reached your freedom, there is yet another wall blocking your way...and you have to retract and start all over again.

You're seeing basically the same as everyone else, but in more detail and from a different perspective. You describe what you see and they don't understand... Sometimes you understand them, sometimes you don't. Sometimes you can't quite connect with things because the technicalities get in the way.
