Greedy pigeons.

They've been the pigs of the avian world for eons.

I've had to put a ring of chicken wire around the dog's water bowl outside to deter pigeons from landing on its rim. I don't mind them taking a drink, its just that after drinking they turn around and crap in the water! Disgusting birds.

Try a ring of chickens.

I kept watering the tomatoes in the greenhouse with tap water... now we've got far too many tomatoes to eat. Such is life.

^ Funny you should say that, tomatoes are the latest vegetables to be affected by months of flooding Down Under. Last week I saw them at the supermarket being sold for $11.90 (£6.94) a kg. I've never seen them anywhere near that expensive before. At least the supply of lettuce is getting back to normal, though.

Glad I grow my own then, though saying that it has cost me a fortune this year in tomato fertiliser.

Went to the supermarket last night, and tomatoes are still $11.90 a kg.

Some of them are even $12.90 a kg.

^ Aldi are selling tomatoes for around $6 a kg right now. Still more expensive than normal, but great for now at least.

I picked around 5 kg of my home grown tomatoes yesterday and cooked them down for freezing. They'll be great in spaghetti bolognese and other tomato based recipes. Just had more tomatoes with lunch today. I'll soon look like a tomato!

My grandmother used to grow tomatoes, too. Wish I'd thought of it, I'd be making a killing right now.

Oh well, they said on the news that the vegetable supply issues won't last for much longer. Apparently winter harvests have been pretty good.

Another load of tomatoes ready for picking again today! I'll put it off until tomorrow.
