The search for the lowly quail

Daisy, a Californian quail, made her break for freedom on Sunday evening as Alan Stockhill (48) brought her out of the aviary and into a cage.

But the catch wasn't properly fastened and the bird flew out of his hands.

His son Scott (17) who has been breeding quails for two years and looking after birds for much of his childhood, is worried about its safety.

Scott has Asperger's Syndrome and keeping birds helps take his mind off any problems.
