My favorite is 90's alternative like Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Temple of the Dog, Mazzy Star, etc. I also like trance and house music, blues, folk, bluegrass, traditional Irish music.

Can't really do it, I think almost every genre has something since I think my real addiction is the aesthetic angle and attitude behind the music of the particular artist and what they put off. I can see it in alternative, I can see it in hip hop, some r&b, definitely in trip hop, sometimes in reggae, occasionally when I can find real good blues or jazz, and particularly in one of the genres that I've listened to addictedly for almost ten years now - in high dose for the jungle/drum&bass genre.

I will also say, there is no genre where I don't dislike at least half it not more of what's out there - the genre politics don't come first and thats no joke.

Anything that can't be easily classified.

That's why I was offended when "alternative" became "defined" as a "genre" in the early '90s: Alternative should just mean "everything else".

My favorite band will always be They Might Be Giants, with Goblin coming in second (NOT Goblins, I'm talking about the band that did all those horror soundtracks, starting with Argento's "Deep Red". They used to be called The Cherry Five, and I guess you'd call them progressive rock).

I can't really say, because I dislike 90% of the bands in any given genre, including the most "definitive" bands that genre nazi's say you must love. XD Plus, most of the music I like blends different genres together.

That said, these are the genres most of the music I like LOOSELY fits into:

-Death-pop (Orgy, Marilyn Manson, Zeromancer, Rammstein, etc.--basically a combination of industrial, rock, pop, glam, and metal...)
-Symphonic "Kinda Black" Metal (well, just Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth)
-Neo-Classical (Dark Sanctuary, Elend, Autumn Tears)
-Advant-Gard Metal (Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Creature Feature, Stolen Babies, Fantomas)
-Alternative Metal (A Perfect Circle, Deftones, Mushroomhead, Slipknot)
-GothIC rock (NOT Bauhaus-style goth rock--this is a little bit like gothic metal but not hard enough to be metal, so it's called gothic rock. Examples are Evanescence, Within Temptation, H.I.M.)
-Industrial/gothic (just a little bit...NIN, Angelspit, Emilie Autumn, The Cruxshadows, Diary of Dreams, She Wants Revenge....)
-Movie and video game soundtracks

I like virtually all genres of music. I like the raw honesty of country and the way the tiniest little nuances can make a rap song great, but I think of all genres progressive rock is my favourite. Prog rock is only really limited by the imagination of the composer, and can be long, jammed-out songs or perfectly formed, written pieces.

Mainly black metal, death metal, dark metal, gothic metal, pagan metal, Viking metal, doom metal.
I often prefer the symphonic variant of these genres but I also like the old school stuff.
