Which do you love more?
The burning neon lights of a crazed urban future or the fanciful costumes and steam-powered contraptions of a phantasmagorical past that never was?

Steampunk... if you can go back...you can always change your mind and make into cyberpunk later... muhahaha... :)

A bit hard to choose, but cyberpunk, mainly.

I prefer Steampunk, but it's harder to get right. I mean, the films of "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" and "Wild Wild West" both sucked.

That said, an anime steampunk film called "Steamboy" kicked ass, as did the steampunk RPG "Arcanum."

there was a time when I would've said cyberpunk. The Fifth Element was awesome. Then Ultraviolet happened.

This is such a hard choice, I think generally Cyberpunk is the best, but done right Steampunk would be the coolest. Hmmmm, Shattered Galaxy or Arcanum?

This is a very disturbing question.

The reverse is true for Cyberpunk. The Matrix and Blade Runner are great movies, but Gibson's Neuromancer was one of the most sleep-inducingly inaccessible books I've ever read.
It seems like Steampunk almost always works better as a literary genre (China Mieville's Bas Lag series) and Cyberpunk works better as a film genre.

postcyberpunk seems a little more intelligent to me.

Cyberpunk. Neuromancer is the classic that started it all.

I like cyberpunk to some degree.

I like steam engines, and after seeing Steamboy, I think steampunk is cool.
