Diagnosis - pros & cons?

Hi
Can anyone tell me the ups and downs of going to the trouble of getting diagnosed if one is aspergers?
I understand telling your boss dosen't seem like a good idea, but what about driving insurance? Is this affected? What about contracts eg property ownership?

Are there any advantages in getting diagnosed? Emotionally, legally...others?

Anyone got diagnosed but wished they hadn't?

Hmmmmm? A diagnoses isn't relevant if it affects your job status.
A job with a govenment status required, or some kind of security
portion to be upgraded required would be disqualified due to
the 'MENTAL ILLNESS" clause.



Here is a area that is grey! I am one into self-awareness
and no-meds-need-apply. That of course is my personal
philosophy. Once you get thh multiple DX's and they start
putting med's on your plate. Then come the side-effects,
then comes the if you take this for anxiety, it may (damage your
liver, cause eye? issues, and cause seizures), or insert the other
meds....



Hmmmm Self-awareness is the key, so a diagnosis isn't
relevent except as a "last resort" thing!



No regrets since I had nothing to lose. No real job to lose,
no security clearance to lose, and it allowed me SSI.
This was a greater income source then prior income sources.

So no regrets due to getting a dx as a act of "last resort"
