One time at New Year's, my brother made a resolution to never use acronyms. He kept that resolution for quite a while, but I wonder if that included saying Compact Disk instead of CD, or Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus instead of scuba, or if it was only internet acronyms he avoided, which he unsurprisingly found stupid and annoying.

My cousin is famous and is also a self-absorbed jerk. People always think it's "cool" that we're cousins, so I never have the heart to tell them that he's an a**.

He also somehow managed to have piece of our family memorabilia placed on another planet, which sounds like something you would make up, but is true. Another thing I just keep to myself.

My uncle is an idiot because he doesn't seem to "get it" whenever he talks to my mom about buying a new car.

Is your cousin one of the guys on the Big Bang Theory?

I am thinking (a) self absorbed, and (b) access to NASA.

I'm glad my grandma and my uncle don't visit as much as they used to.

Whenever they visit, I feel uncomfortable around them and I don't know why.

We're all a bunch of wackos. No seriously - it's true. Every last one has had some psychiatric attention at one time or another. It's a wonder I turned out as well as I did.

A lot of my cousins died before the age of 60. :(

There is an almost hereditary tendency for factions of my family, on my mother's side, to vehemently estrange and ostracize the others -- it's been going on for at least the last three generations! The family is riddled with multiple stories of horrible abandonments where people never spoke to each other again. It happened to my grandmother, several uncles did it to each other, and then my siblings followed suit with their own chapter of it. It's like a family trait to just turn against each other and go to the grave never fixing it.

My maternal grandfather was Olympic hopeful in swimming and diving but nixed for having history of asthma

The average start onset of menopause in three of my bloodlines is 60

My maternal Grandma had one aunt with 24 children ( a few multiples)

I have a cousin who is in the army. One evening I randomly ran into him while at the grocery store and we were both pretty happy because we haven't seen each in so long. But he had grown a long, skinny mustache, I think it was was like fu manchu whiskers, but shorter. It looked like the mustaches you see on cartoon villains. I jokingly told him not to go tying little old ladies to railroad tracks.
