The summer before I turned 15 my parents had me travel on my own to Montreal to stay at my Mom's cousin's apartment so I could visit the "Expo". This trip, which took about 12 hours total, included a change of motor coach at NYC's notorious Port Authority terminal (although it wasn't yet quite so notorious as it became in the 70s).

It took me a long time to realize just how clueless my parents were.

I've been in both proms.
I never want to be in it but I was forced to.
I only went for attendance's sake.

Went both alone.
Never danced during either.
Practically slept in some corner table on a dress during either.
Broke both shoes worn because both shoes worn were high heels -- I'd always end up breaking those and never lasted an hour.

Never lasted an hour and a meal right after in both proms.

During my senior year, a female freshman student loved giving students a hard time including me.
