The only professional one I took was when I was six; the psychologist said I had a "high" IQ to my mother, nothing else. I took this for I was having learning difficulties in school (reading/writing).

Does anyone know what the minimum for "high" is?

90 - 110 = average
110 - 120 = high
120 - 130 = superior
130 - 140 = near genius
140 + = genius

if i remember correctly.

When I was young i had taken two IQ tests professionally. On one i scored 139 and on another 147. I don't know if I am an aspie or not, but i have been diagnosed with ADD in the past, but given the recent tests and research I have done into autism it has convinced me to go to a shrink to find out.

Yes I have taken an IQ test when I was a kid. I used to score low when i was little and then by the time I was about ten my score shot up to the average and above average range. I don't know what scores I got on the ones at the autism place when I got tested for it.

No, average is 80 to 100 and genius is above 150, not 140. The section between 100 to 150 is simply above average.

I did a professional test, and I scored 131. It wasn't broken down in the way indicated by the OP but it covered everything. I have a feeling my failings in social IQ prevented a plus 150 result, but that's not important to me. It was done in 2000. Should get it done again one of these days.

Do teachers count (my uncle who is a psychologist said they don't, but he doesn't know everything...)?

If so, I've had 160x2 (the ceiling I believe; they made me take it twice) in grade 5, to a flat zero in grade 11 because I couldn't sign my name. From the highest functioning period of my life to the lowest, this is interesting in the context of autism.

I did one when I was 18, I scored a 142 if I recall.

I've seen several places that said people with autism DON'T regress.(CDD is another disorder entirely) HOW did you go from genius to basically a low level idiot to one that, at least in your writing, seems pretty normal? I mean you couldn't write your name!?!? And they gave you a ZERO!?!?!? Heck, just from your writing I would guess at least within normal.

Frankly, you sound more like a three stooges skit!

Larry: I can't see! I CAN'T SEE!! !! !
Moe: Why not?
Larry: I got my eyes closed! :D

So why couldn't you sign your name? Nervous? CTS? You didn't have a pencil?

Ha, I took the test in year 11 when I was in constant "meltdown" mode (the girl in front of me was chewing gum all throughout the test, and since I couldn't start a conversation...), I'm sure you can figure out why I had trouble.

The post-puberty period is particularly difficult in those with AS/autism; those with autism can "regress" to how they were when at their most severe in early childhood (they don't know why).

Just overloaded senses; it'll turn a "genius" to a rock in short order.

My Verbal would be 120.
And my Nonverbal would be 130.

Though I think the tester was mispronouncing some of the words she was asking me the meanings of, like halcyon.

But meh, what do you do... :)

OK, THAT I can understand! Meltdowns even affect ME. I don't drop to the level where I can't write my name, but I HAVE mentioned here how my IQ may drop a couple dozen points. HECK, maybe you had the ABILITY to write your name, but not the desire or attention to, because of all the noise.

Couldn't you have retaken it? Besides, they should have you take it in just better circumstances.

I was too distracted to function cognitively; it's like trying to breath from an empty oxygen tank (to use a simile). With all of the information to process from the environment, my brain cannot handle it; all of my high school experience was like this.

I left school a week after that, I didn't want to retake it (mainly because I didn't care, and I never wanted to touch anything to do with school ever again due to my anxiety/fear of that environment; I didn't know why I felt how I did at the time as I wasn't diagnosed till I was 25).

I never saw the breakdown, but according to a test some phyciatrist gave me I have an IQ of 147. Not sure how accurate this is though.

They made me take an IQ test when I was 9. My first score was 177, so they made me redo it since they thought I cheated... Second time I got a 163... that is my Official score. I'm actually pretty stupid though. Maybe I did cheat. :lol:I did get to take this test in a quiet room with dim lights... and I didn't do verbal or it wasn't counted, or I wasn't told about it. That is all nonverbal.
