In an isolated town? Is it even possible? Mum told me that the only aspies in this town are younger than me... And therefore I can't meet them.

Look for a place where role playing card games take place or look around for anime' fans. Maybe there's a club.

what is your towns population?

If there are aspies younger than you then given your age, statistically it is very likely that there will also be older aspies. But they wont necessarily be diagnosed.

Good question... I guess most of us are here to find other aspie friends (or at least converse with aspies) because we're looking for people we can relate to. (Mr. Obvious strikes again) So I suppose just registering on such a forum is a good start - I'm probably not the right person to give advice on this topic, as I've never met another aspie (to my knowledge) nor do I have any friends.

I struggle with being social and fitting in well to our modern world. If not for the help of my family, would I truly survive on my own? Probably - but sometimes I wonder if I'll die alone as a homeless bum, freezing to death on some city street in the middle of winter. What a pleasant thought.

I feel for you. There is only 5,200 people in my town, and my best friend is the only other with AS that I know of. I'm sure there are others but they probably stay isolated like I do, making introduction next to impossible.

I live in a town with 105,000 people, and the nearest AS support group is 100 miles away.

I think there's an AS group in Adelaide, but I can't get there.

Ashleigh,

Does your mum believe in your Aspergers?

If so, isn't it her responsibility to make sure that you get support.

She should get you to the support group - have you asked her?

How long a drive is it to Adelaide?
Do you have a pm relationship with Cheerlessleader?
She might be able to come out and visit you.
?
There must be buses, surely?

I'm from South Australia myself, and I do spend a bit of time in Adelaide. I've been searching the interwebz for AS support groups in SA, but I've been getting nothing. :(

In regards to this post so far, I've come to learn about aspies living in the area in which I live but, have not made any personal contact with any of them just yet, but hope to do so though..
