Going to a child crisis center might be a bit too drastic at the moment. She should try reasoning with her mother; from what I've read of her mother, she is a cold, controlling person who doesn't seem to care much about Berserker. (this is just my interpretation from what I read here and some other post, I think)

if the mom doesn't listen you can sneak out at night... i don't know how well your mom sleeps but i can walk around the house, have friends over, etc. and my parents won't know. they don't care if i come in late or leave early though.

Tell the school counselor about it, go to a shrink and tell her about it, tell the stepdad about it, tell anyone else... or just walk out the door and if she calls the cops tell them the situation.

Solitary confinement is really, really bad for some people.

Her mum's not willing to let her grow up.

My dad accused my mother of that when I was Berserker's age... he told me to just walk out the door. He told me "actions speak louder than words" and "talk is cheap". He told me that if she set the cops on me or tried to "bundle me off to Gaspe" to call the kids' help line.

From what it sounds like to me it reads as if Beserker simply isn't capable of living unaided on her own. You're not getting the whole story here - of that I am sure.

I'm about the same age as Berserker and sometimes I wonder whether I CAN live on my own. I would like to but I'm not sure if I can.

16 is a little young for a person to be living on their own, anyways. I know that I wasn't ready, when I was 16.

I can't live alone, I have no life skills...

Also, I can't get a job until I do training.

As for education... Can't get one.

If she's not fit to live alone (Which is probably true), all attempts to change her situation will fall into two broad categories:

1.) Work with her Mom in order to improve her situation.

2.) Get the government involved to forcibly separate them and to place her into someone else's control/care.

I'm thinking she doesn't want to do #2 yet, so she should try to work towards #1.

I agree with viska. Try helping with the everyday jobs and learn how to do them all.
