NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer

I've been thinking about getting that...

How does NWN2 compare to 1 (which I thought was fantastic) - I struggled with Morrowind - a bit tedious at times.

Can you play NWN2 without having to go online?

Does it require a lot of special hardware, video cards etc? NWN1 didn't

thanks..

Also --- PS2 people - I've seen that there's a Final Fantasy for PS2 - Is that one any good or is it only the older FF Games that are supposed to be good. Can you understand the new one if you've never played any of the others?

NWN2 is a little more advanced graphically than NWN1.

The following site will tell you whether you can play this game or not (and many others)

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

Recommended:

Pentium 4 3 ghz or Athlon 64 or better

1 GB RAM

Gforce 6800 or Radeon X1600 256MB DirectX 9 compatible graphics card

5.5 GB of HD space.

I tried to run this on a Core2Duo E6600, 4 GB RAM and Gforce 8800 GTS 320 MB and it ran like a dog. I think this game has a lot of bugs and has issues running on dual core processors.

Aw that really sucks...

I'm gonna have to get a new PC before I can play it....

Thanks for the site btw...

I got a DELL and didn't specify a video card because I figured I'd upgrade when I was ready. The bastards didn't give me a video slot...

I hate DELL.

I wish IBM still made PCs.

Those custom motherboards really suck. If you want to build your own, prices are really good for RAM and CPUs right now. DDR2 is dirt cheap and Intel's Core2Duo's are ridiculously cheap. I'm going with AMD for my next build mainly because I want an AMD/ATI combo and AMD are better at offering chipsets which don't have to be replaced every six months.

Consoles: Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, PC, Game Cube, and an XBox 360.

I have too many games to list, since I'm only one of four siblings in my family. I know that we'll be getting one of the Guitar Hero games for my sister's 15th birthday and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed later in the summer.

It's a little rougher around the edges than NWN1 (more bugs, worse performance), but IMO its official campaign is a million times better than NWN1s. And the expansion (Mask of the Betrayer) improves on that even further, to become one of the best RPGs in recent years. If you do buy it, I'd highly recommend getting the expansion at the same time, because it adds some things to the original game (new races, classes etc.).

Yes, although obviously I advise downloading all the latest patches.

Unfortunately yes, depending on your definition of "a lot". Performance is probably the game's biggest problem. You need a good system to run it with details turned up. And yet it doesn't look any better than other games that run more smoothly (although it still looks much better than NWN1).

Incidentally, if you choose a Gigabyte GeForce 8800GT video card, it ships with NWN2.

*Hijacks thread.* I've never regretted buying from no-name companies rather than brand names like Dell. They're always cheaper, and you can specify the hardware in as much detail as you like. You don't even need to build it yourself. Small companies can often build the PC for you at no extra charge.

If I get a Wii, which I hope to, that'll replace my PS2.

My sister just got a Wii for her birthday, I don't expect it to be any use to me personally except for multiplayer.

Yeah! I've played the SNES one and the N64 one. The DS one is cool, but I don't have it. DD was alright, but I only played it once.

Then may I suggest getting Mario Kart Wii. It looks like a very good game. Granted, you need to have online connection in order to play it against 11 other people but still, there are loads of cool new tracks to race on. I'm getting it, although I am a bit of a Mario Kart nut.
