I like Monty Python. I actually think you're required by law to like them if you're an Aspie. It's just how things work

I love Monty Python too! The people in my college are obsessed with the show too.
I also love Fawlty Towers and Blackadder.

yeah...

and so what is all this nonsense that some NTs/people-with-important-looking diagnostic clipboards, have - about aspies not having any sense of humour?
huh? what is it?

i think they are all just jealous because, in fact, our sense of humour is much more refined, superior, highly-evolved.
*ahem*

exactly! I never got the "aspies have no sense of humor" comment. I love Bill Hicks, Lewis Black and Mitch Hedberg. And I think Eddie Izzard is a great comedian. And of course the Pythons. I don't understand how anyone can't find "The Ministry of Silly Walks" and "The Fish Slapping Dance" uproarious. Like most Python fans, I don't like the fourth Cleese-less season (why did they even try?)

The "no sense of humor" comment is most of the time applied to me because I hate Dane Cook and I like "The Office" (my sister can't understand the Office because the humor is too subtle and there's no laugh track to tell her when to laugh, ditto with "Flight of the Conchords". Her kind of "funny" is "Two and a Half Men", another very unfunny show).

The fact that "Two and a Half Men" is the most watched comedy in the US and "Arrested Development" gets canceled is beyond me.

What if you combined the Aspie love of Sci-Fi with British humour???

Have you ever seen The Two Ronnies? Classic.

Some of the newer comedies are great:

The Office
Extras
The Mighty Boosh
Peep Show
Coupling

Yeah... forgot the office... I refuse to watch the US version.
I forgot coupling too - have all the DVDs.

I want to see hyperdrive - is it any good?

Extras looks good, but I'm not sure yet.

Hitch-Hikers I tend to count as sci-fi as well as sci-fi comedy. As for Doctor Who, there are only some stories that are overtly comedic, mostly from the end of the 1970's. City of Death is one of the more serious.

What about Doctor Who - The Romans (it's almost a carry on).

and Doctor Who - Timelash (probably funny for the wrong reasons)

that sucks! i heard there was an arrested development film in the pipeline tho.

To be fair to US comedy, i think (the excellent) Seinfeld holds some sort of popularity record in the US. It got almost completely overlooked & downplayed by UK schedulers.

I'll grant you that.

Oh come on. It had good ideas, the time concepts are impressive, and Robert Ashby as the Borad is pretty damn good.

I completely agree with everything you said. I love Eddie Izzard. Met him once, that was pretty cool, and he wasn't in drag so I didn't feel all creeped out. Couldn't hate Dane Cook more. I don't find "Two and a Half Men" at all funny (because it isn't). Most NT's do seem to like "The Office" though. By the way, "Flight of the Conchords" is awesome in that British-y kinda way, and I'm still crying about "Arrested Development" being canceled.

But back to the topic of the british comedy: it rocks. Ricky Gervais is hilarious. Also, does anyone else really like "The Full Monty"? Because I do a lot.
