Well, WP voted overwhelmingly for Paul and Obama in their respective primaries. We all know that Paul isn't actually going to be on the ballot, but let's see how it would have turned out.

For the record, I would vote for neither but rather have Ron be president than Obama. I vote conservative, and Ron Paul would be more so AFAIK. I rather vote for a RINO than a flat out liberal.

Out of curiosity, who would have been your first choice?

If I had to choose of the currents candidates: Huckabee.

If I could choose anyone alive today: Maria Schmidt, because she's a good manager.

If I could choose anyone ever: Gustav Adolf II (AKA Gustavus Adolphus).

Do you mean Maria K Schmidt, the professor at Indiana University? Seems an odd pick, but all right. Gustavus Adolphus... showing some style there, Mr. Parakeet.

Those two candidates I'm trying to decide between. I might just go for Ron Paul. I heard one of Barack Obama's speeches and wasn't too impressed with it. Albeit that was just one, so I don't know. I'm still waiting to see what the results of the primary elections are. I'm really hoping Clinton is not selected as democratic candidate. If she is, then Ron Paul all the way if he's still in the running.

He's not; McCain will be the GOP nominee but this is a hypothetical vote based on who WP voted for.

I don't mean to step on any toes here, but I admit to being confused as to why anyone could possibly be torn between Obama and Paul. They have completely different political philosophies! For me, I vote simply by looking at the candidates' positions on the issues which matter to me and seeing how well they match up with my opinions. Of the serious candidates, Obama clearly came the closest to me, though Clinton wasn't far behind. (Clinton and Obama pretty much agree on most issues, despite what the campaigns would have you believe.) So, the Iraq issue put me firmly in Obama's camp. I definitely appreciate Paul for being the only anti-war Republican candidate, but on most other issues he and Obama are pretty far apart. I honestly don't understand how any politically informed individual can be torn between them.

Obama.

I tend to dislike Right-Libertarians (I fancy myself a Left-Libertarian or Liberal Socialist), but Ron Paul is of the type of Right-Libertarian I dislike the most (excluding Randioid Objectivists, Which I consider a cult).

I'm not an American so my vote probably doesn't count but if I did I think my vote would go to Ron Paul. I'm a libertarian at heart.

This is the WP election, you can vote if you want to. All hypothetical anyways, as we know Paul isn't the Republican nominee and Obama is far from certain at this point. Though I find it nice to meet another libertarian here, especially one from Britain. The UK's political climate isn't exactly conducive to libertarianism, is it?

clinton is beholding to the teachers union and the hispanic vote, so it's not likely she would be pro school choice, pro vouchers or pro charter schools and unlikely she will be even come close to being a hard azz towards illegals, where as Obama knows they have hurt the earning power in the ghetto.

clinton is a poverty pimp. Obama has worked with the people her type have NOT helped one bit for decades.

clinton has a prior record to stand on, she was co-president for 8 years  and what did they do the first two years while the clintons controlled comgress, not a damn thing for the working class but raise their taxes.
