Ashleigh,

1. You're on snail-broadband, so I'd recommend you forget Skype - you'll sound like stutter.

2. How does an online boyfriend become a "real life" boyfriend when he's still online?

3. Won't Kain get jealous?

4. I thought you said (in several other posts) that you weren't interested in boys anyway.

Good luck - it can be an ok thing I guess but just make sure that you don't give him lots of personal info (a combination of Full Name, Address and date of birth could be dangerous).

Don't send any money.

Don't send any pictures that you don't want the world to see (in doctored form or otherwise).

Be careful.

I sincerely doubt that.

You're just being hard on yourself.

You can never be sure precisely who it is who is on the other end of the computer link, dear. Visit http://www.bringjohome.info and read about a very sweet, loving girl who thought she knew who she was talking with.

My ex-husband was a real creep and he prowled on line chat rooms looking for girls. He actually had several fake pictures he used to get girls to talk to him. At one time he even claimed to be female (with pics to prove it) to get bisexual women to talk about the experience with him. I know I'm telling you stuff that seems a little extreme, but I wanted you to know that those kinds of people are out there. Stay safe!

I think it's a bad idea.

Instead of wasting your energy meeting or having an online boyfried should focus it on meeting actual guys and improving your social skills.

I thank God online stuff was barely coming out when I was younger. Because I had no such option, I was forced to go out, meet people, ect.

I think online dating and gaming have hurt Aspies a lot because it makes us more reclusive.

Again, since I had no online gaming or dating, it was either force myself to go out or do nothing and meet nobody at home.

I don't think many people could hold up a false persona online for awhile. Not to mention, what's the point? Just wait a looooong time for a face-to-face is possible anyways. Voice chat is do-able on dial-up (although the number of hops across the world might hurt). Personally, in that situation, I'd take it easy, and view it as "practice" for a real in person thing.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it if you actually do meet up with them on occasion. For NT people I would think it was weird, but for Aspies, well, I don't think there's anything wrong with it IF you intend to actually pursue a real relationship with them at one point.
