People can no longer cover their eyes
If this disturbs you
Then walk away
You will remember
The night you were struck by the sight of
Ten thousand fists in the air

Saturn comes back around to show you everything
Let's you choose what you will not see and then
Drags you down like a stone or lifts you up again
Spits you out like a child, light and innocent.

Saturn comes back around. Lifts you up like a child or
Drags you down like a stone
To consume you till you choose to let this go.

Give away the stone.
Let the oceans take and transmutate this cold and fated anchor.
Give away the stone.
Let the waters kiss and transmutate these leaden grudges into gold.
Let go.

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall

And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call
Call Alice
When she was just small

When men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know

When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"
Remember what the dormouse said:
"Feed your head
Feed your head
Feed your head"

You grew up way way too fast
Now there's nothing to believe
When reruns all become our history
A tired song keeps playing on a tired radio
And I won't tell no one your name
I won't tell 'em your name

- Goo Goo Dolls, "Name"

There are a lot of songs I consider my favorites.. but on the very top i'd say these two. They are considered two of the most powerful songs ever written in the Spanish language.. I'll try to translate them but there is really no way the English language can capture how powerful the songs are.. lost in translation would be the term.

'No Basta' Franco de Vita

No basta traerlos al mundo
Porque es obligatorio
Porque son la base del matrimonio
O porque te equivocaste en la cuenta

No basta con llevarlos
A la escuela a que aprendan
Porque la vida cada vez es más dura
Ser lo que tu padre no pudo ser

No basta que de afecto
Tú le has dado bien poco

..and my top English songs:

WHEN THE TIGERS BROKE FREE

It was just before dawn
One miserable morning in black '44
When the forward commander
Was told to sit tight
When he asked that his men be withdrawn
And the generals gave thanks
As the other ranks
Held back the enemy tanks for a while
And the Anzio bridghead was held for the price
Of a few hundred ordinary lives

And kind old King George sent mother a note
When he heard that father was gone
It was, I recall, in the form of a scroll
With gold leaf and all
And I found it one day
In a drawer of old photographs, hidden away
And my eyes still grow damp
To remember
That his majesty signed
With his own rubber stamp

It was dark all around
There was frost in the ground
When the tigers broke free
And no one survived from the Royal Fusiliers, Company C
They were all left behind
Most of them dead
The rest of them dying
And that's how the high command
Took my daddy from me
-Roger Waters

Never Ending Story theme:

Turn around
Look at what you see
In her face
The mirror of your dreams
Make believe I'm everywhere
Hidden in the lines
Written on the pages
Is the answer to our never ending story
ah ah ah

Reach the stars
Fly a fantasy
Dream a dream
And what you see will be
Rhymes that keep their secrets
Will unfold behind the clouds
And there upon a rainbow
Is the answer to our never ending story
ah ah ah

Show no fear
For she may fade away
In your hand
The birth of a new day
Rhymes that keep their secrets
Will unfold behind the clouds
And there upon a rainbow
Is the answer to our Never ending story...
ah ah ah
Never ending story...
ah ah ah
Never ending story.

Recently I've been on an Arcade Fire kick (check the avatar, obv.)

And the power's out in the heart of man / Take it from your heart / Put it in your hand
And there's something wrong in the heart of man / Take it from your heart / Put it in your hand

Win Butler, the author of the above lyrics wrote:
I see it as, if there's something f--ked up in your heart, you're going to put it in your hand as a sword.

Let's dance in style,
let's dance for a while
heaven can wait we're only watching the sky
hoping for the best but expecting the worst
will you gonna drop the bomb or not?
Let us die young or let us live forever
we don't have the power but we never say never....

Yeah, Forever Young is a great song!

Also Clear Skies by the TenGooz is a great song:
Well they say that life's a gamble
so I thought I'd hedge my bets
spend half my chips on healthfood and the rest on cigarettes.
When I studied hard in college,
conscietious to a fault
I took ev'rything my teacher said with a hefty grain of salt.
They said storm is coming on - I did not agree
there were clear skies as far's the eye can see...

(sorry if there are any mistakes, I quoted from memory)

Not one of my favorite favorites but this is where I am at the moment:

I WOULDN'T NORMALLY do this kind of thing
Neil Tennant/Pet Shop Boys

Ask me why
I'll say it's most unusual
How can I even try to explain
why today I feel like dancing
singing like lovers sing
when I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing?
I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing

Ask me when
I'll say it started when I met you
and ever since then I knew that the past couldn't last
For right now I think I'm running
a race I know I'm gonna win
and I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing
I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing

If people say I'm crazy
I tell them that it's true
Let them watch with amazement
say it won't last beyond breakfast
it's a phase he's going through
denigrate or speculate
on what I'm going through
because it isn't the sort of thing I'd normally do

Ask me what
I'll say I think it's good for you
Believe it or not I know where it's all leading to
I feel like taking all my clothes off
dancing to The Rite of Spring
and I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing
I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing
I wouldn't normally do this kind of
this kind of thing

:D

I really identify with this song and listen to it everytime I feel upset:

I am doll eyes
Doll mouth, doll legs
I am doll arms, big veins, dog bait
Yeah, they really want you, they really want you, they really do
Yeah, they really want you, they really want you, but I do too
I want to be the girl with the most cake
I love him so much it just turns to hate
I fake it so real, I am beyond fake
And someday, you will ache like I ache
Someday, you will ache like I ache

I am doll parts
Bad skin, doll heart
It stands for knife
For the rest of my life
Yeah, they really want you, they really want you, they really do
Yeah, they really want you, they really want you, but I do, too
I want to be the girl with the most cake
He only loves those things because he loves to see them break
I fake it so real, I am beyond fake
And someday, you will ache like I ache
Someday you will ache like I ache

Here's one I listen to when I've had a bad day:

Bring on the Rain - Jo Dee Messina

Another day has almost come and gone
Can't imagine what else could go wrong
Sometimes I'd like to hide away somewhere and lock the door
A single battle lost, but not the war

'Cause tomorrow's another day
And I am not afraid
So bring on the rain

It's almost like the hard times circle 'round
A couple drops, and it all starts comin' down
Yeah, I might feel defeated
And I might hang my head
I might be barely breathin', but I'm not dead, no

'Cause tomorrow's another day
And I am not afraid
So bring on the rain
Tomorrow's another day
And I'm thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain

No I'm not gonna let it get me down
I'm not gonna cry
And I'm not gonna lose any sleep tonight

'Cause tomorrow's another day
And I am not afraid
So bring on the rain
Tomorrow's another day
And I'm thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain

Dunno about favourite; but Polly is playing on the juke just now; I've always found it haunting, words and melody both.

Polly wants a cracker
I think I should get off her first
I think she wants some water
To put out the blow torch

isn't me
Haven't seen
Let me clip
Your dirty wings

Let me take a ride
don't cut yourself
want some help
To please myself
I've got some rope
You have been told
promise you
have been true
Let me take a ride
Don't cut yourself
want some help
please myself

Polly wants a cracker
Maybe she would like some food
She asks me to untie her
A chase would be nice for a few

isn't me
Haven't seen
Let me clip
Your dirty wings
Let me take a ride
Don't cut yourself
want some help
please myself
I've got some rope
You have been told
promise you
have been true
Let me take a ride
Don't cut yourself
want some help
in myself

Polly said

Polly says her back hurts
she's just as bored as me
She caught me off my guard
amazes me, the will of instinct

isn't me
have a seed
Let me clip
Your dirty wings
Let me take a ride
Don't cut yourself
want some help
have myself
got some rope
You have been told
promise you
have been true
Let me take a ride
Don't cut yourself
want some help
have myself

Good fortune,

- Icarus has dirty wings...
