What does fish sauce taste like? What is it comparable to?

Soy Sauce is Digusting AFAIC. I never liked chinese food that much.
Besides soysauce, the japanese use this Delicious sweet-n-sour sauce on Teriyaki.

Well, I cook with it. If you ate it raw it would taste like a thin, salty soy sauce with fishiness. Cooking with it, it provides a more even flavor (the fishy cooks out) with a bit smoky to it. The Asian sections are now selling it in small bottles if you want to try it. Otherwise they are really large bottles that have to be refridgerated.

And what is that duck sauce that comes in packets at Chinese restaurants?

I think duck sauce is some kind of orange or apricot sweet sauce. not my favorite. I like fish sauce in thai food it adds a piquant flavor to it. my husband practically drinks soy sauce. its a little too salty for me though. I do like it with lots of wasabi... mmm. I also have a taste for hoisin sauce. Its sweet salty fishy goodness.

I don't usually put sauce on things. It's a texture thing.

At Chinese restaurants, I like that Sriracha sauce (the red sauce that's extremely spicy, that comes in the big bottles).

They sell it at some grocery stores as well.

I might try a little, but I usually don’t put salty stuff like that on my food. I also don’t eat white rice. Szechuan (aka spicey flavor) is the type of Chinese food I always choose at restaurants.

And I know it’s not really on topic, but the flavor that I hate most of all is teriyaki. I don’t like bland-tasting flavors like that. Sesami is another apparently popular flavor that I’m not crazy about.

I use it on my tofu, along with rice vinegar and some sesame oil. I don't use it all that much in general, though. Soy sauce has always been too salty for me, and the low-sodium version would essentially be tasteless.

I vastly prefer vinegar. I have a strong preference for sour-tasting ingredients. I love anything that's sour, garlicky, or "oniony".

I like mine sometimes with Sushi, and sometimes If the food I'm having is a bit plain I sprinkle some on.

I use both Chinese and Japanese soy sauces; also Thai fish sauce. I also have several different kinds of vinegars on hand. But my real passion is hot sauce.

I like soy sauce a lot, for cooking and as a condiment. I like duck sauce, teriyaki sauce, Sriracha, sweet chili sauce, tonkatsu sauce... I love Hoisin sauce and have a deep, undying love for fish sauce and oyster sauce.

And now, I am seriously craving a bowl of pho.

I like soy sauce. I use it primarily when making stir fry, and I like it on sushi. I also like thai chili sauce.
