:o Hi All

I am an eighteen-year-old psychology student from New Zealand; in case you weren't aware, New Zealand is a small nation in the South Pacific. I would like to congratulate the developers of this site for a job well done so far. Although I am ashamed to say that I embarrassed myself by spending far too long in your chatroom by myself - please, don't ask!

It would be wonderful to encounter another Asperger type while online sometime. Please feel free to drop me a line.

Regards

Greg

Welcome to WrongPlanet.net! Thank you very much for the congratulations. Dan and I have been, and still are, working very hard on this site. If you have the time, we would really appreciate it if you helped us by writing an article or a how-to guide that we could use in our "article" section. By the way, I am a 17 year old high school student from Charlottesville, Virginia. I will turn 18 in 8 days. I will let Dan introduce himself. By the way, if you were confused about the way the chatroom worked, don't worry, I was confused at first too. We will try to get it to function in the way that a standard chatroom does.

Hi, Greg!

I'm Dan, I'm the other person working on the site along with Alex. I'm 15 (nearly 16), and I've done a lot of the tech stuff on the site.

Keep in mind that we haven't even announced the site yet. We're planning on doing so in about a week, give or take a few days. For the chat room, there's probably no one in there most of the time, since you're among the only users who aren't Alex and I. And Alex is right, it's a little different from a lot of chats.

Psychology is something I've always been interested in, especially as an Aspie, something I've always wanted to formally study but never got the chance.

Like Alex said, one of the major things preventing us from launching the site sooner than later is not having enough content on the 'Articles' section. We'd would be honored and appreciative if you could write an article of of something you've learned to help you deal with or succeed with life as an aspie, especially how psychology can apply to that. For an article, we're looking for articles on specific topics. Check out the articles we have up and the categories they're in.

Even if you don't want to contribute, you're still absolutely welcome here, and we thank you for signing up!

:) Hi Dan and Alex

Thankyou both for the warm welcome. I am currently in the process of writing an essay, relating to my experiences with AS, for a publication in the United Kingdom; I would be happy to submit this to you upon completion. I was only very recently diagnosed [ten months ago], making me something of an unusual case. Oddly enough, I was employed by an organisation as a social skills tutor to other teenagers with AS at the time I received the official diagnosis.

If you require any assistance as far as theoretical and historical perspectives on Autistic spectrum disorders are concerned, I would be happy to help. At present I am working part-time in a local High-school as a support-worker for two young men with AS (both are 14yrs).

For now, may I refer you to www.withyoueverystepoftheway.com - this is the website address for the "Cloud 9 Children's Foundation". It is an organisation, based in New Zealand, which supports children and adolescents with AS. The content and layout of their site could furnish you with inspiration for your own. Cloud 9 is based at film studios in a suburb of Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand.

As a consequence, I was able to make the acquaintance of Burt Reynolds while working there. The children's foundation is associated with a film production company; it created a television programme named "The Tribe" - I believe it may have screened in the U.S. at some time. Anyway, visit the site; I am sure it will prove worthwhile.

All the best for your launch

Greg

Sounds like your essay will be good. Living with aspergers can be tough, even if you arent the one who has it. Anyway, I just want to say hi and establish the fact that Alex is my brother. Rock on. Should be a great site! :D

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

Out of curiousity, I was wondering what the first post was. By trying different posting numbers, this seems to be oldest I could find, post #9.

What happened to posts #1 - #8?

Yeah, it is the oldest post I can find. It would be 14 years old now.
