Obviously the former ... had both, using an m:855 at the moment.

Review wise, alienware has had better scores, but voodoo beats them with their custom paint jobs.

its more of a personal prefrence, since for that much money it'd likely be better to build your own.

Alienware's glory days are over. They sold out. They "went mainstream". They shut down their customer support forums and started using proprietary components. Now they're just like Dell or any other big PC maker.

I can make you a much better computer than either of those companies... just tell me what you want and I'll tell you what it costs.
