Wonderful! Fantastic! Brilliant!

I'm not optimistic about Autism Awareness Day- probably it will just be used as an excuse for more alarmism and a nice fundraising opportunity for Autism Speaks.

We can't let that happen. We need to fill the airwaves with positive messages.

Make positive Youtube videos .... there are heaps of lovely, positive Youtube videos .... keep making them.

Or write the newspapers/television stations/your local member.

I would like to see an Autistic Pride awareness as the Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual Community does.
Do you mean Autistic Pride Day? We celebrate it every year, on the 18th of June: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autistic_Pride_Day

My entire family is bongo about Autism Awareness Day and the entire month of April. We have lots planned for Wednesday, we're going to be checking out some of the programs, got stuff to do in the community and school.

As a parent, I am proud of the focus. And, I've said it many times on this board, it's a new day for Autism. IT IS A NEW DAY FOR AUTISM! Awarness means more money, more support, more research, more programs, more advocacy, more therapies, more treatment options, more insurance coverage, more school options, more respect for our children and adults who are living on the spectrum.

April 2nd is a great day and as a parent raising an Autistic kid, I am honored that this country is taking the time to make it center stage.

I hope that doesn't translate it "Cure Autism Now!".

That'd be the negative.

The positive: more education and awareness. Possibly one less person looking at you like you have two heads! (ok, so that might take longer...)

I finally get an excuse to wear my autism shirt to somewhere else besides the airport! Yeah!
