I wouldn't be surprised, maybe even the keyboard player, is autistic.

What's in the milk they're feeding these young kids who can play all this advanced progressive stuff by themselves?!

This multi-instrumentalist is only 13 years old and tackling Rush by himself.

I'm not including any krautrock here even though I like swathes of it, as I regard that as a separate genre. Here goes :

Aphrodite's Child
The Groundhogs
Hawkwind
Man
Van Der Graff Generator

Yes
Porcupine Tree
King Crimson
Pink Floyd
Jethro Tull

I notice some people listing the Moody Blues. I remember the prog rock Usenet group often debated whether they were truly prog or just art rock like Supertramp and the like. If both bands count as prog, they'd edge out Floyd and Tull for me. Supertramp in particular might even be #2 after Yes if they count. :) I just adored those bands back in my prog-rock-filled adolescence.

Genesis
Dream Theater
Queensryche
Rush
Yes

Actually, when I picked up the bass guitar again recently, and I was trying to figure out which bass players I was going to use as my baseline for what level of proficiency I wanted to achieve, one of the ones I picked was Chris Squire. :-D
