Hello,

I don't know if I'm allowed on here if I haven't got Aspergers.

Even though I don't have Aspergers, I do have problems in social situations, e.g. with body language, voice patterns knowing what to do, when and how and I find it a bit difficult to recognise faces. I don't understand it fully because sometimes I can understand what to do, how others feel etc. and other times it's really confusing and I feel left out of conversations or say the wrong things.

I have chronic motor tic disorder (Tourette syndrome without vocal tics) and GID. I suspect I may have auditory processing disorder and slight associative synesthesia. I also have attention and organisation difficulties.

I hope you don't mind me being here if I don't have Aspergers, but I'd really like to learn more social skills and get to know some people.

hi Greyhound. Socially inept is exactly how I used to describe myself too. I haven't come on in leaps and bounds since my dx 10 years ago, but I've definitely learnt certain things, and what is more I've reached an acceptance of myself as someone who has AS. It's not easy to live with this condition, and I doubt it ever will be, but you can at least take heart in the fact that learning how to cope and accept yourself as you are is definitely possible.

Hi Greyhound,
I would suggest reading. There are lots of books on the subject, but whats best I think are the autobiographies or personal accounts.
